Julian Haart Mystifies with Riesling Magic in the Mosel

In the illustrious landscape of German winemaking, Julian Haart stands as a luminary, embodying a tradition that spans generations while embracing innovation with open arms. Since his debut vintage in 2010, Julian has captivated enthusiasts with his unwavering dedication to crafting wines that speak eloquently of Mosel’s terroir.

Hailing from a lineage steeped in viticultural heritage dating back to 1337 in Piesport, Julian’s prodigious journey, from studying and learning with German winemaking giants Egon Muller and Klaus Peter Keller, is a testament to the enduring spirit of Mosel winemaking and it’s bright and enduring future.

David Schildknecht, a wine critic writing for Parker’s Wine Advocate stated: “Not many wine careers can have started off on a more superlative level than Haart’s, yet from my several conversations with him I am convinced that his perfectionism goes hand in hand with rigorous self-criticism that should preclude success going to his head.” And we couldn’t agree more.

Nestled amidst the idyllic scenery of Piesport and Wintrich, Julian’s vineyards are a patchwork of history and innovation, where ancient vines intertwine with modern viticultural practices. With five hectares under his stewardship, Julian’s meticulous approach to grape growing is evident in every cluster. From the sun-kissed slopes of the Grand Cru site Ohligsberg to the revered Schubertslay vineyard, Julian harnesses the diverse terroirs of Mosel to create wines of exceptional depth and character.

In the cellar, Julian’s philosophy is one of restraint and respect for nature’s bounty. Spontaneous fermentations, extended lees aging, and judicious oak usage are the hallmarks of Julian’s winemaking style, allowing the purity of the fruit to take center stage.

As Julian continues to carve his legacy in the annals of Mosel winemaking, we couldn’t think of a better introduction to his wines than his rarefied bottling of old vine Kabinett that we are fortunate enough to carry here in Thailand for your drinking pleasure.
