Communal Wine Workshop II: Syrah vs Shiraz

This July 22nd, our portfolio manager, Ottara will be continuing his Cloud Wine workshop series with a communal exploration into the spicy world of Syrah.

At last month’s workshop, we saw wine lovers, aficionados and friends come together to chat Chenin Blanc and discover some new things about a classic varietal through the lens of a few of our favorite producers.

This month we follow suit, addressing the age-old question of Syrah vs Shiraz; taking a deep and vinous look at the history of the grape in France and Australia. We’ll talk about how the grape has manifested itself throughout time, how it’s changed and developed stylistically, and where exactly does it fit into the modern world of winemaking today.

This class is designed for all wine-minded folks from beginner to expert, but we find may it be more enjoyable if you already have a bit of basic knowledge coming into it. The spirit of this class is to stimulate conversation, engage about the wines, and hopefully make some new drinking buddies in the process.
