Vinified and matured for 13 months in large wooden barrels this wine displays typical earthy minerality with hint of white pepper and plenty of dark berries. The Eisenberg, a large mountain, located in the remote eastern borders of Austria is home to the lovely Blaufränkisch, which thrives on schist soils producing wines of finesse and earthy spicy aromas. Young as he is, Christoph Wachter, now 24, is considered a visionary for this region, and has been recently awarded newcomer of the year by German gourmet magazine Feinschmecker.
